Change for Christine - Thomas splint

After 6 weeks for Christine in her special chair, where she had to stay completly imobilized it was time for a change, of her treatment.

Besides that she has to be restrained all time, as she was wearing the heavy hip cast, that does not allow her to move, she mostly hated the humilating moments, when it was time to care for her personal needs, and chaning her body waste. We tried to prevent to do that when other people are around but it was not always possible to prevent that in the two months where she was in the chair.

She went to the hospital for some hours again and get a differen treatment.

On this picture you see her just after i get her back from the hospital. She get a special brace, a so called Thomas splint brace. Besides the leg braces, it has a special build up boot for the right feet, and a special device that keep the left feet upwards but not placed to the ground, so there is no pressure produced on the left hip. Christine neeed some weeks of practice, especially after beeing so long restrained to the chair to walk around. To make it a bit easier for her we allow her to be with out her special compression suit for the first days, just wearing a thick supporting pantyhose under the braces.

A few weeks later, she managed to some extend good to walk around on the thomas splint and with the crutches, but long walks were still diffcult. To make it a little bit easier we did a litttle break in her victorian education, and allow her to dress normaly. In her special compression suit of course again, and with the headgear, and her glasses - she company me on a little shopping trip.
